Easy Halloween Decorations

Halloween is almost here!  Many people are celebrating this coming weekend, too, so you don’t have a lot of time to get your last-minute decorations up.  However, there are a lot of decorations that are very easy to make or put together.  If you don’t have a lot of time or money, here are a few different ways to decoration quickly and easily. Look at the Dollar store.  Sometimes, their decorations are actually pretty neat and nice.  You can pick up a lot of stuff there for very little. Instead of carving a jack o’ lantern, which takes a lot of time and can be messy, paint on pumpkins instead.  That way, you don’t have to deal with disposing of the insides, and you can get really creative.  Tape, stable, or glue different items to your painted pumpkin to add even more detail.  For example, add paper ears and a tail to make a cat pumpkin or wings to make a bat. Black and orange crate paper makes for a very easy decoration, and you get so much of it in a roll that you can stream it all over the house. Those fake cobwebs can be pretty easy to put up.  Just be sure you don’t put them up across places where people might walk. Use what you’ve got.  Books like those by Edgar Allen Poe or Stephen King can become part of your decorations.  So can stuffed black cats and toys/figures from different scary movies. Be creative!  You can repurpose some of your old Halloween decorations or items.  Got an old witch doll that’s seen better days?  Cut the hat off it and add it to your Halloween wreath. Get your kids involved, too.  They can help you make some simple decorations and put up decorations. One super easy decoration is a bouquet of flowers.  We’ve got some great Halloween flowers in Roanoke,...

Fall Colors, Fall Decorating

Have you put out some fall decorations yet?  If nothing else, at least you’ve taken down some of your summer ones?  Some people are a bit more relaxed with it comes to decorations, but others have specific items they put out for different seasons and holidays.  If you’re into decorating, you know the fall is the time for some bold colors and fun items. The colors of fall are those of the falling leaves: red, golden yellow, dark orange, and brown.  You’ll want to use these bold, darker shades in most of your décor, although you can accent them with dark green or purple, both of which can look very nice with any of these colors.  Of course, since they’re a little on the darker side, they may make a room look darker, so don’t go too overboard. You don’t have to get rid of all your lighter colored items, of course.  You can use some of your candles or your yellow throw pillows as a way of adding bright colors to the theme.  They’ll help brighten up your darker fall décor, and they’ll really stand out in amongst the bolder autumn colors. You can use whatever decorations you want or have, of course, but some of the more traditional ones include putting out a new tablecloth and placemats, changing up your throw pillows on the couch, putting a new quilt on your bed, and adding a fall wreath to your front door.  You can even make this wreath yourself using items from your own yard, like fallen leaves, pine cones, and small gourds or pumpkins. Naturally, you’ll want some fall flowers mixed in with your decorations.  Sunflowers, daisies, orange and red roses, and any other flower that’s in season and fits in with the colors of fall will do.  We can help supply some amazing fall flowers in Roanoke, VA, for all your fall decorating...
